This one skips the deep woods entirely and goes straight for the most dramatic pavement in the Hudson Valley: the Storm King Highway, NY-218, carved directly into the granite face of Storm King Mountain. Four hundred feet below, the Hudson. Zero shoulders, low stone walls, and views that make it genuinely hard to keep your eyes on the road — which, on this road, you very much need to do.
