Hudson Highlands to the Delaware River, NY
Distance128 mi
Ride time3h 22m
StartAstoria, Queens (NYC)
CharacterTwo icon roads in one ride, connected by country twisties

The big one. This route grabs the visually stunning cliffside Storm King Highway over the Hudson, then cuts west across the mountains through Cuddebackville's country roads until it reaches the Hawk's Nest switchbacks above the Delaware. Two of the East Coast's most photographed motorcycle roads, 128 miles, and a legitimate excuse to take the whole day.

The actual road-by-road line, routed by TwoTired's own engine — every curve you see is pavement you'll ride.

How the ride breaks down

The escapeCity escape and Route 9W transit to Cornwall, then local connecting highways across the state.
The transitPalisades Interstate Parkway North all the way to its northern terminus at Bear Mountain.
The rewardThe legendary cliffside twists of NY-218 over the Hudson, leading into country roads through Cuddebackville to Hawk's Nest.

Local knowledge

This is a fuel-stop-required ride — plan around Cornwall and Port Jervis. Check NY-218 status (closes for weather/rockfall). Doing it clockwise puts the sun behind you at Hawk's Nest in late afternoon.
